Lore · Learning birds made easy

Learn birds of the world, one region at a time

Explore bird identification beyond your home region. Use regional guides and focused photo practice to learn birds from different parts of the world.

Choose a region, not the whole world at once

A worldwide collection can be a starting point for curiosity, but it is a large learning task. Pick one region in Lore and narrow your first guide to a useful group or a few species. You can change your region later without needing to learn every bird before moving on.

Carry observation skills between regions

When a bird is unfamiliar, describe its outline, main pattern, behaviour and habitat. Those observations give you questions to check in a local guide. They do not make one region’s identification shortcut universal: a bird that resembles a familiar species may require a different comparison.

Choose a practice goal

For a local goal, practise birds you might encounter nearby. For a travel goal, use your destination. For exploration, try a trip guide or a shared challenge and then investigate a few unfamiliar birds. Different goals can use different collections without turning every session into a global test.

Use names and sources carefully

Common names vary between languages and naming systems. A scientific name helps connect the bird card with another source. Check distribution, age and seasonal context in an appropriate field guide. Lore’s photographs are practice material and retain photographer and licence information.
